BOTSWANA IN STYLE (10 Days/9 Nights)
Okavanga Delta, Moremi Reserve, Chobe National Park, Victoria Falls
DAY 1: ARRIVE MAUN, FLY TO OKAVANGO DELTA
At Maun Airport, our representative will assist you with boarding your light aircraft which will transfer you into the heart of the Okavango Delta, where you will meet your safari leader at Nxabega Okavango Safari Camp. Accommodation for two nights is in elevated twin-bedded safari tents with en suite facilities. Activities include boating into remote, papyrus-fringed lagoons, exploring the Okavango by canoe and undertaking nature walks on the pristine islands of the delta. You could also try your hand at fishing. The insight and knowledge of your safari leader will add immeasurably to your enjoyment and understanding of this unique wilderness area, rich in flora and fauna and world-renowned as a paradise for bird-watchers. DAY 2: OKAVANGO DELTA
Spend the day exploring the Delta - the ultimate desert oasis. Papyrus and palms flourish here, amidst the lily-lined lagoons that weave their way across the desert, petering out in the stark Kalahari. This is a land like nowhere else on earth. Your guide will point out to you the many unique plant, animal and bird species of the delta. Drifting through the water in a mokoro, or traditional dug-out canoe, offers the chance to experience the delta at first hand. You may also like to arrange to go on an interpretive walk, where you will be introduced to the wonders of the land, and the impressive knowledge of the local guides, as you explore the region on foot. DAY 3: KHWAI RIVER LODGE, MOREMI
After breakfast we enjoy a flight on a light aircraft from Nxabega Safari Lodge to Khwai River Lodge, situated on the edge of the Khwai river floodplain near the north gate of the reserve. Accommodation at Khwai River lodge is in comfortable thatched luxury safari tents with en suite facilities. Midday may be spent around the lodge and its sparkling swimming pool, while in the afternoon we explore the northern sector of Moremi on game viewing drives. (B,L,D)
DAY 4: KHWAI RIVER LODGE, MOREMI
Enjoy morning and afternoon game viewing drives. (B,L,D)
DAYS 5: MOREMI - CENTRAL CHOBE NATIONAL PARK
Today we negotiate the sandy tracks of the Magwihkwe Sand Ridge into the Chobe National Park, crossing the pre-historic lake bed of the Mababe Depression to Savute - world-renowned for its large concentrations of game and its strong and stable population of predators. Our stay is at Savute Elephant Camp on the banks of the dry Savute Channel. Our extensive game viewing drives are sure to provide us with excellent game sightings and photographic opportunities. Meals are sumptuous affairs - accompanied by the call of the hyena or the occasional roar of a lion. (B,L,D)
DAY 6: CENTRAL CHOBE NATIONAL PARK
Enjoy a day of game viewing and exploration of the Chobe area. (B,L,D)
DAY 7: CHOBE NATIONAL PARK
We depart for the Chobe River and spend the night at Mowana Safari Lodge twin-bedded rooms with en suite facilities overlooking the river. About 35 000 elephant have made the Chobe National Park their home - the largest herds still to be found on the continent. Time is spent watching and photographing the animals on the banks of the Chobe, and this evening we undertake a sundowner cruise to feast our eyes on the glory of the setting sun, while hippo and elephant turn to silhouettes in the face of the coming night. DAY 8: CHOBE NATIONAL PARK
Spend a full day exploring the wild beauty of Chobe National Park. (B,L,D)
DAY 9: CHOBE NATIONAL PARK - VICTORIA FALLS
After an early morning game drive and breakfast we leave Chobe and cross into Zimbabwe to Victoria Falls, known by the locals as "Mosi-oa-tunya" (The Smoke that Thunders). Accommodation will be at the Victoria Falls Hotel on a bed and breakfast basis only. We leave the day free for you to pursue the various optional excursions available at Victoria Falls (the Flight of Angels, the African Spectacular Tribal Dancing, curio craft markets, visit to the Craft Village and Crocodile Farm). A visit to Victoria Falls is included in the safari fare. (B,L,D)
DAY 10: DEPART VICTORIA FALLS
After breakfast, transfer to Victoria Falls airport. (B)
