Fly from Maun to the Makgadikgadi National Park in the Kalahari Desert and stay in traditional 1940's-style tents. The nearby saltpans are the remains of a vast saltwater lake; today, the grasslands provide excellent game viewing in the wet season and the rare opportunity to witness Southern Africa's last migration of zebras. Spend four full days in the company of guides who will introduce you to their wealth of traditional knowledge. Learn about the geology of the region, predator-prey relationships, and the hunting and water-sourcing techniques of the local people. Try your hand at fashioning stone tools and navigating without a compass. The crystal clear nights are perfect for stargazing - your guides will also teach you the major constellations that can be seen in the thick carpet of stars that blanket the sky each night.
