Abu Simbel, Aswan, Kom-Ombo, Edfu, Esna, Luxor,
Sharm-El-Sheikh
Encompassing the riches of Egypt, this 20 day trip is geared for the traveler who does not want to miss a single aspect of this immensely diverse country. Beginning in Cairo, spend four nights exploring ancient, medieval and modern Egypt in-depth with a private guide. Then drive north to the Hellenistic-era capital of Alexandria. Once the home of the most comprehensive library in the known world, this port city contains many historical wonders from centuries past: The Fort of Qaitbey, the gracious Montazah Palace and the Roman Museum. After two days here, journey by Jeep to the western desert oasis of Siwa. Spend two nights meandering through the Bedouin town, visiting Cleopatra’s Bath, a local spring and taking some leisure moments to fully appreciate the grand power of the surrounding desert. Siwa is a delightful setting for evening strolls under the star-filled sky. On your return eastward, make a stop at Wadi-al-Natrun, an oasis that contains several Christian monasteries that were built in the 4th Century by monks escaping Roman persecution. Upon return to Cairo, overnight at your hotel before flying to Abu Simbel, the southernmost city on Egypt’s Nile. Spend the day discovering the striking temples and later fly to Aswan for two nights. Next, transfer to your Nile cruiser for four nights of sailing downstream toward Luxor. On the way, stop at the ancient sites of Kom-Ombo, Edfu, and Esna. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel for two nights in Luxor. After a thorough exploration of Egypt’s awesome desert and the historical cities that have flourished on the Nile’s fertile banks, fly to the resort town of Sharm el Sheikh on the Sinai. Spend three nights here unwinding and experiencing the Red Sea pleasures of snorkeling, diving and swimming. At the end of your stay, transfer to Cairo for your international departure.
