Sample Itinerary : Through The Southern Oases

THROUGH THE SOUTHERN OASES (14 days/13 nights)
Casablanca, Marrakesh, Ourzazate, Dades & Todra Gorges, Erfoud, Fes

This unique program allows adventurers to experience a broad spectrum of Morocco's diverse cultural and natural landscape. Start with a night in the bustling modern city of Casablanca, before driving through rolling farmland to Marrakesh, one of the world's most stylish cities. Spend three nights here, soaking up the beauty of the city as you wander its souks, and visit its many fine museums. Next, drive south over the Atlas Mountains, past goat herders' villages and trading posts, to Ourzazate. Visit the kasbahs built by tribes who grew wealthy over centuries of trade, as caravans journeyed north from the Sahara, en route to Marrakesh and Fes. Travel east to the Dades and Todra gorges, home to much of Morocco's rare plant and bird life. Also visit Tineghir, whose palmeries consist of the classic combination of date palms, olive, pomegranate, almond and fruit trees. Drive east to Erfoud, where the air carries the scent of the desert. Spend a full day exploring the huge dunes at Merzouga, one of the most impressive sights in the country. In the spring, pink flamingos descend on the village, while a host of other desert animals thrive year round in this arid land. Visit Rissani, one of the great stops on the Saharan caravan routes. Drive north via the Ziz valley to Fes, then pass through the cedar-forested hills of the northern Atlas Mountains. Spend three nights in Fes, touring the city's museums and medina. Enjoy dinner at the Maison Bleu, and shopping in the medina's shadowy alleys. Transfer to Casablanca for your international departure.
