Sample Itinerary : Under A Sheltering Sky

UNDER A SHELTERING SKY (13 days/12 nights)
Casablanca, Marrakesh, Ourzazate, Zagora, Fes

Lose yourself amidst the vast expanses of Morocco's breathtaking natural landscape. After a night in Casablanca, drive to Marrakesh for three days of touring the city's historical highlights and elegant gardens. Explore the souks, where artisans craft and sell their wares, and Djemaa El Fna, alive with fire-eaters, dancers and musicians. Also visit Marrakesh's excellent museums, illustrating the city's Arabic and Berber heritage. Drive south to Ourzazate, and the Skoura area. This journey takes you past fertile valleys and villages, across the Atlas mountains, to the desert landscape that has been the backdrop for many classic films: Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, and more. Spend three nights in the area, touring mud-brick kasbahs adorned with geometric designs, and nearby villages set amidst fragrant orchards. Continue south through the mountains to Zagora, traveling through the Draa Valley. Visit local markets en route, where olives, dates and other desert fruits are on offer. Spend two nights in Zagora, touring the dunes and villages by car or camel. Drive back to Marrakesh for a night before flying to Fes for two nights. Fes is a city of mystery, with shadowy lanes and artisans' quarters where woodcarving, ironmongery, and silversmithing are practiced according to traditional methods. Feast on a multi-course banquet at one of Morocco's award-winning restaurants, set in a stunning palace. The excellent Batha Museum showcases fine arts around a lovely garden, with tremendous avocado and banana trees. Transfer to Casablanca for your international departure.

Day 2: Morning transfer to Marrakesh for three nights, afternoon tour Ben Youssef Medersa, souks, Djema El Fna;
Day 3: Full day tour: Koutoubia mosque, Saadian Tombs, Maison Tiskiwin, Dar Si Said Museum, Gueliz; Menara, and Majorelle Gardens;
Day 4: Day at leisure;
Day 5: Drive to Skoura / Ourzazate, touring Ait Ben Haddou en route;
Day 6: Skoura oasis Kasbah touring;
Day 7: Village day tour;
Day 8: Drive to Zagora, tour Tamnougalt en route;
Day 9: Full day tour of Tamnegroute & Tinfou dunes;
Day 10: Return to Marrakesh for overnight;
Day 11: Fly to Fes, afternoon tour of Fes El Bali;
Day 12: Tour Dar Batha museum, Mellah & Fes Djedid;
Day 13: Transfer to Casablanca, connect to international departure.
