THE
WILDS AND WINES OF SOUTH AFRICA (7
days/6 nights)
Cape Town, Kruger National Park
Spend a week reveling in two of
South Africa's finest attributes: the scenic winelands around Cape
Town, and the majestic wilds of Kruger National Park. Start with
four nights in Cape Town, one of Africa's loveliest cities. Spend
a full day touring the famed wine estates of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek.
This is a region of elegant estates set amidst rolling vineyards.
Lovers of fine food, wine and gracious architecture will find this
a highlight of their trip. Also tour the city of Cape Town, whose
waterfront is a bustling quarter of boutiques, cafes, markets and
restaurants. Weather permitting, take a cable car to the top of
Table Mountain, for breathtaking views of the coast. Spend a full
day touring Cape Point, and the many villages en route. The peninsula
is a fascinating realm for plant lovers: this is a unique ecosystem,
home to many plants not found anywhere else in the world. After
savoring the diverse pleasures of Cape Town's environs, fly to Kruger
National Park for two nights in South Africa's largest park. Kruger
is home to almost all the great species of flora and fauna: lion,
elephant, rhino, and almost all of South Africa's antelope species.
Kruger is also home to many rare species of birds. Spend two full
days experiencing the wild riches of Kruger before flying to Johannesburg
for your departure flight.
