KWAZULU NATAL EXPERIENCE (12 days/ 11 nights)
Durban, Curry's Post, Cathedral Peak, Rorke's Drift, Hluhluwe, Simunye, Stanger
KwaZulu Natal is one of South Africa's most alluring provinces.
With its stunning coastline, superb marine and wildlife parks, cultural
diversity and historical riches, the traveler can find an overwhelming
array of attractions in this one state. Start with a night at Old
Halliwell, outside of Durban in the scenic Midlands Meander region.
Travel to Cathedral Peak, in the Drakensberg. These are the highest
mountains in South Africa, with ancient San cave paintings adding
to the beauty and mystery of the region. Spend two nights here exploring
the rivers, wooded valleys, and soaring peaks of the region. Drive
to Rorke's Drift for a two night stay: the ethereal landscape of
the region was the backdrop to some of the key battles which formed
modern South African history. Tour nearby Isandlwana and Rorke's
Drift, learning of the dramatic history of the region which played
a key role in shaping modern South African history. Travel to Hluhluwe
Game Reserve, which was once a hunting preserve for Zulu kings.
Home to leopard, giraffe, hippo and more, this is also the best
place in the world to see rhinos. Spend two nights here before heading
on to Simunye, where you can experience a luxurious insight into
Zulu life. Round off your experience of Kwazulu-Natal with two nights
at one of its many fine beach resorts.
