SECRETS
OF SOUTHERN TANZANIA
(6 days/5
nights)
Selous Game Reserve, Ruaha National
Park
Departs Monday and Wednesday from
Dar Es Salaam or Zanzibar
This program is excellent as an addition to the popular Northern
Circuit, or for return visitors to Tanzania, eager to explore more
of this stunning land. Start with a scheduled flight to Selous Game
Reserve. The second largest conservation area in Africa, this is
a vast, wild region, overwhelming the visitor with the range and
size of herds of buffalo, wildebeest, wild dog, and so much more.
Explore the reserve on game drives, or boat trips along the Rufji
river's many side channels and lagoons, taking you to hidden corners
of the park. Bush walks can also be arranged, allowing visitors
a unique opportunity to truly experience the wild heart of the land
in the safe company of an armed ranger. After three nights here,
fly to the remote Ruaha National Park. Centered around the mighty
Ruaha River, the park is known for its wild isolation, and is a
birder's paradise, with over 400 recorded species. Steep river gorges,
and diverse vegetation make this a rare treat for aficionados of
truly wild Africa. Spend two nights here, then return to Dar Es
Salaam.
